Advance Warning System: 23rd Street Explosion Impact to Mass Transit and Street Closures

Due to the explosion at 23rd Street between 6th and 7th Avenues in Manhattan, New York City Emergency Management would like to ask our AWS agency partners to communicate with their clients the following message: if you live, work or have an appointment in the area near the explosion, please expect significant train service delays/cancellations, street closures, and traffic delays.

Client appointments, critical services and deliveries in the area may be affected. Please share the message with your clients to allow extra time and to possibly reschedule or find alternate locations for appointments in the area.

The street closures and subway impacts as of September 18, 2016 at 2 AM:.

� All cross town traffic eastbound and westbound is closed from West 14th Street to West 32nd Street on the following Avenues-5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th Avenue.

� 1 train is bypassing 23rd Street and 28th Street in both directions

� E & F by passing 23rd Street in both directions

There are no impacts to Penn Station, Amtrak, LIRR or NJT service.
