The Advance Warning System (AWS) disseminates information to New Yorkers with disabilities and access and functional needs through their service providers. Please share the important information below with your clients and other agencies or individuals to empower them to make informed decisions:
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for Staten Island, Brooklyn, and Queens and a Winter Storm Watch for Manhattan and the Bronx for Wednesday evening March 4, through Thursday evening March 5, 2015. Rain will mix with snow and sleet, eventually becoming all snow late Wednesday night. Snow may be heavy at times, and an accumulation of 4 to 8 inches is expected. The New York City Office of Emergency Management issued a hazardous travel advisory for Thursday, March 5, 2015. New Yorkers are asked to use mass transit where possible. If you have to drive, exercise caution and allow for additional travel time during the Thursday morning and evening commutes, as roads will be dangerous due to the weather conditions. Please urge your clients to stay indoors if possible and exercise extreme caution if they must travel. See attached Cold Weather Safety Tips.
