The NYC Housing Recovery Operations (HRO) has activated the damage report portal for New Yorkers who have experienced property damage from the thunderstorms on Thursday, August 20, 2026.
The damage report will assist the City in providing accurate data on the impact of this event to State and Federal agencies. This information also allows the City to identify and, where available, provide eligible New Yorkers with disaster recovery assistance. Based on the submitted, the City may also refer affected individuals to additional benefits or programs for which they may be eligible.
If you or your clients have been impacted, please submit a damage report at: reportdamage.nyc.gov or call HRO at (212) 615-8329. Please assist impacted clients in submitting a report if they are unable to do so on their own.
The Advance Warning System (AWS) alerts organizations who work with people with disabilities and access and functional needs to various types of hazards and emergencies in New York City that may affect people's independence and daily lives. Participating organizations receive public preparedness and emergency information that they can relay to their clients and other similar agencies.
