The Advance Warning System (AWS) disseminates information to people with disabilities and others with access and functional needs through their service providers. Please share the important information below with your clients and other agencies or individuals to empower them to make informed decisions.
Dear AWS partners,
As of Saturday, 5/16, Long Island Rail Road service is suspended. To accommodate passengers, the MTA will provide limited shuttle bus service on weekdays for essential workers and those who cannot telecommute. Accessible travel options will be available at LIRR and Queens stations. Customer Ambassadors will be assigned to each location to assist ADA customers.
Third rail power will remain live at all times. Please do not enter LIRR tracks or the right-of-way at any time. Non-passenger patrol trains will continue to operate throughout the LIRR system. Motorists and pedestrians must continue to stop at grade crossings when gates are lowered and obey crossing warnings. Crossing gates will remain active. Trains can come from any direction at any time.
